The Director of Solar Development will lead the development effort of Gardner Capital’s solar business unit for both greenfield development and solar projects acquired by Gardner across the United States. The Director of Solar Development will be responsible for managing projects during various stages of development through commercial operation. The role will be dynamic and entrepreneurial, working with various partners, developers, utilities, investors and community stakeholders. The ability to communicate effectively while coordinating with external and internal resources to manage projects to successful completion is imperative.
Job Duties
- Lead development team strategy, origination, project management, and execution
- Manage multiple projects and coordinate work efforts with other team members
- Coordinate and manage the interconnection and permitting processes
- Execute on the development of projects in the Gardner Capital Solar pipeline
- Support the due diligence, project review and screening process for acquisitions
- Build and review financial models, development budgets and schedules
- Prepare written reports and presentations for executive management
- Gather market intelligence and continuously strive to be an industry leading thinker
Qualifications
- 5-7 years’ experience in power plant, solar and real estate development
- Ability to originate, manage, and execute the full lifecycle of solar project development
- Understanding of the environmental and utility regulatory environment
- Experience negotiating interconnection and power purchase agreements
- Knowledge of energy markets preferred, including ISO, RTO’s, and vertically integrated utilities
- Experience building and managing development budgets and processes
- Strong math and computer skills
- Experience developing small utility-scale projects in the Midwest, Northeast and Southeast is preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel, Project, OneNote and Word
- Four-year college degree required, Master’s preferred
