Senior Associate Attorney 

Gardner Capital is seeking a high-performing Senior Associate Attorney in its Clayton, MO corporate office.

Gardner Capital is a developer and operator of affordable housing projects in Missouri, Texas and other states.  It also develops commercial solar energy projects in Missouri and other states.

The position will report to the Gardner Capital’s General Counsel and will work closely with the President and other Gardner team members.

Job Duties

  • Draft and negotiate corporate entity organizational documents and real estate agreements
  • Negotiate loan terms and related security provisions
  • Work closely with developers, asset managers, outside counsel and other parties to close all aspects of affordable housing development projects
  • Writing and research assignments in furtherance of corporate affairs
  • Review construction contracts and evaluate development proposals
  • Deal in negotiations with litigants from time to time
  • Interpret laws, rulings and regulations
  • Analyze the probable outcomes of negotiations
  • Advise management concerning business transactions, advisability of negotiations, or legal rights and obligations

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail
  • Very strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders, including internal staff and external partners
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently and accurately in a dynamic and fluid environment
  • Forward thinker, who actively seeks opportunities and proposes solutions

 

Experience / Education

  • 5 Years transaction or real estate legal experience
  • Member of the Missouri Bar or able to become a member promptly
  • Corporate, affordable housing or commercial real estate transaction experience a plus
  • Resourceful team-player, with the ability to be effective independently
  • Experience in low-income housing tax credits & solar tax credit developments are pluses
